Two-Storey Mediterranean House in Palawan

Folks, did you still remember my old post entitled Mediterranean House? I hope you do.  This was picked by one of my clients as his dream house.  However, this time my client suggested for a bit revision of the design by detaching the garage from the house.   So the front yard appeared to be wide and spacious.
Friends, you always have the choice to decide with your own dream house design based on your personal preferences.   You are the owner of the house and so my obligation to satisfy and fulfill the house design you've ever dreamed of.

For those of you who are looking for an inspiration of Mediterranean house design in the Philippines here's my simple and practical design that might inspire you or something to that effect.

Way back from the history, the Mediterranean Revival architecture was an eclectic design style that was first introduced in the United States about the end of the nineteenth century, and became popular during the 1920s and 1930s. The style evolved from renewed interest in the Italian Renaissance architecture of palaces and seaside villas dating from the sixteenth century, and can be found mainly in the states California and Florida due to the popular association of these coastal regions with Mediterranean resorts.

Architects August Geiger and Addison Mizner did much to popularize this style in Florida; while Bertram Goodhue, Sumner Spaulding, and Paul Williams did likewise in California. Structures are typically multi-story and based on a rectangular floor plan, and feature massive, symmetrical primary façades. Mediterranean Revival is characterized generally by stuccoed wall surfaces, flat or low-pitched terra cotta and tile roofs, arches, scrolled or tile-capped parapet walls and articulated door surrounds. Feature detailing is occasionally executed with keystones.
Balconies and window grilles are common, and are generally made of wrought iron or wood. Ornamentation can be simple or dramatic, and may use various Mediterranean references. Classical, Spanish Renaissance, Spanish Colonial, and Beaux-Arts architecture details are often incorporated into the design, as are lush gardens.
The style was most commonly applied to hotels, apartment buildings, commercial structures, and even modest residences. Mediterranean Revival was one of several architectural styles used extensively by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe and Southern Pacific Railroad companies when designing their train stations in California.

Mini-Resort and Apartment

Hey folks, the heat of summer are still on, isn't it? Everyone, if not most of us would want to escape from the city's annoying atmosphere to relax with our friends, family or love ones. Some would go to the beach, mountains with refreshing water falls to connect with our mother nature; or to resorts for some with minimal budget just to cool down our summer....  Folks, I bet, this is a high time for me to design a mini resort with studio type apartment that is perfect for this summer season.

The distinct features of this mini resort project are a studio type's apartment along with.  Unlike other resorts, this is really not luxurious resort as what you might think or expect like those resorts in Boracay, Palawan, Surigao or Mindoro which are considered as one of the best luxurious resort  in the country, with palm tree lined beach front location and with world class amenities.

This mini resort project has only a lot area of 950 square meters, however; we can still find ways to provide the client needs and preferences. This mini resort has two bedrooms rest house, six units of studio type apartment in a row, function hall cottage, swimming pool and parking spaces. The landscaping is not that complicated too, it is simple and practical which is just perfect to the lot.

My dear friends/followers, there can be a lot of overwhelming resort design can be seen online all over the world but only this resort design captures a "Pinoy" touch or preferences which is simple, refreshing but elegant.

A House in a Sloping Land

This one again? Yes indeed! If you take a look back my old blog entitled Post modern House 2 and Post modern house 2 updates, this house design can be seen there. This time, it will rise soon in the queen city of the south, Cebu City, Philippines. The very obvious difference and distinction of this design is that the existing lot is sloping and it has three levels. The first level is the two-car garage with its own staircase inside going to the second level which is the garage roof deck; or May I call it the viewing deck that leads to the main level. The land really challenges me a lot because I am not used in designing a house in a sloping land but thanks God I was able to create something that suit the needs of my client.

Updates!!!

This house has four bedrooms including the helper's room. The Master's bedroom is spacious enough with its own walk-in closet and bathroom. Every room has its own bathroom, including the helper's room. It has also a separate bathroom at the back of the house in the service area. It has a separate entertainment room which is accessible from the living room. One thing that makes this house unique is that we were able to utilize the area underneath the living room as a mini gym as part of the second level.

In terms of size and measurements, this four-bedroom residential house has a lot area of 375 square meters. This is a perfect design if you have a lot which of the same size like this.

My dear friends/followers, there can be a lot of overwhelming house design can be seen online all over the world but only this house design captures a "Pinoy" touch or preferences which is simple, refreshing but elegant house.
