Three-Storey Modern House.

Modern architecture is generally characterized by simplification of form and an absence of applied decoration. Some of the Common themes or elements of modern architecture include: the notion that "Form follows function", a dictum originally expressed by Frank Lloyd Wright's early mentor Louis Sullivan, meaning that the result of design should derive directly from its purpose, simplicity and clarity of forms and elimination of "unnecessary detail", visual expression of structure (as opposed to the hiding of structural elements), the related concept of "Truth to materials", meaning that the true nature or natural appearance of a material ought to be seen rather than concealed or altered to represent something else, use of industrially-produced materials; adoption of the machine aesthetic, particularly in International Style modernism, a visual emphasis on horizontal and vertical lines.

Based from the above mentioned elements of modern architecture, I created one house design that will somehow inspire in choosing and searching your own dream modern house design. I am hopeful that you’ll like it. As to the best of my knowledge and understanding, modern house design that is based on what was explained above and described in Wikipedia possesses with simple character yet its beauty is visible within the clarity of structures.

This three story Modern house that I did have the following spaces in the ground floor: garage, living, dining, kitchen, bathroom and staircase that makes it a simple and common house.  It has also a swimming pool at the back which unfortunately not visible in this design. In the second floor area has a Master's bedroom with toilet and bath, two standard size bedrooms sharing a common bathroom plus of course the balcony. The third floor is for the multi-purpose hall with an open area as roof deck.

Here's another scheme.

Post Modern House-2 (updates)

Friends, did you still remember my old post entitled Post modern house-2 , modern living room, modern dining and kitchen design combine, and the living room christmas decoration? I hope you still remember those great post of mine (aheem!!!) and I hope you like them too. Kidding aside, actually they are in one roof; I mean they are all in one house. I just post it individually before and now I decided to show it all in one post.
Drum roll please!!! For those of you who are looking for an inspiration of post-modern house, modern living room, modern dining and kitchen room in the Philippines here's my simple and practical design that might inspire you or something of that nature.

If we will recall that postmodern architecture began as an international style the first examples of which are generally cited as being from the 1950s, but did not become a style until the late 1970s and continues to influence present-day architecture. Post modernity in architecture is said to be heralded by the return of "wit, ornament and reference" to architecture in response to the formalism of the International Style of modernism. As with many cultural fashions, some of Postmodernism's most pronounced and visible ideas can be seen in architecture. The functional and formalized shapes and spaces of the modernist style are replaced by diverse aesthetics: styles collide, form is adopted for its own sake, and new ways of viewing familiar styles and space abound. Perhaps most obviously, architects rediscovered the expressive and symbolic value of architectural elements and forms that had evolved through centuries of building which had been abandoned by the modern style.

Living room Christmas decoration

Merry Christmas to each and everyone around the world!

It's Christmas holiday once again! Putting Christmas decoration in our house has been a tradition in celebrating Christmas. More so, it’s always been the thing that lightened up our mood for the season.  In the Philippines, the living room is usually became the center of attraction for our Christmas decorations.  Although, most of the families are gathered in the dining area where they eat together during Christmas Eve, but there are some would like it to happen in the living room with the huge Christmas tree.  A living room without Christmas tree/decoration becomes dull. One better way to welcome Christmas is making our home a small festival of joy.

Every person has each own way of decorating one's living room depending on our personal taste. We even search it through web to find more ideas on the theme or motif/design, etc to satisfy our decoration style. From cookies to the Christmas tree, from the ornaments to the chocolates, there is a wide range of items you can display on your creativity.

Here is a sample of a beautiful living room which I designed.  I hope you’ll be inspired.

Modern Dining and Kitchen Design Combine.

In the West, a modern residential kitchen is typically equipped with a stove, a sink with hot and cold running water, a refrigerator and kitchen cabinets arranged according to a modular design. Many households have a microwave oven, a dishwasher and other electric appliances. The main function of a kitchen is cooking or preparing food but it may also be used for dining.

A dining room is a room for consuming food. In modern times it is usually adjacent to the kitchen for convenience in serving, although in medieval times it was often on an entirely different floor level. Historically the dining room is furnished with a rather large dining table and a number of dining chairs; the most common shape is generally rectangular with two armed end chairs and an even number of un-armed side chairs along the long sides.

The whole idea of combining these two areas the dining and the kitchen is to make serving meals so much easier and the cleaning after the meal. There's no need of moving between two rooms not to mention that you save a lot of time and of course space. The addition of a television in the Dining is not common to the majority but to some they love watching television while cooking and dining. I think every homeowner should take good care of how this room will look like by creating something that will perfectly reflect the owner's personality and style. There are so many styles that we can choose from, we can even browse the net of styles that we want it could be classic, country, contemporary or modern style.

Personally, as you can see in my design I love modern design. I always wanted to have my own modern dining and kitchen room that is why I design one. For those of you who are looking for an inspiration of modern dining and kitchen room in the Philippines here's my simple modern design that might inspire you or something of that nature.

Interior Color Design

The greatest challenge in color design is to be able to predict and control the result of a color scheme. Effective color selection can be an inexpensive yet powerful element in any design. Color can perform a multitude of roles and can affect a person's emotions, energy level, and sense of order, or disorder. As well, it can set the tone of an interior and make it seem formal or informal, masculine or feminine, cooly aloof or invitingly warm. The aim of successful interior color design is to be able to control these effects through the masterful use of color as a design tool itself.

Some client ask their designer what is the right color for them. Well, that is a good question indeed. To answer that question let me share with you the interview of Ms. Erin Cecille Langan (design director of DWP) which is done by sigma paints. DWP (Design Worldwide Partnership) is an interior design and architectural practice with 12 offices and over 450 staff located in the middle east and Asia.

What is the right color for me?
I believe the right color is the color that brings you the most happiness. There is no right or wrong choice. Whatever one feels most drawn to or intuitively inspired by is "right". Color, as with creativity, should have few rules and one should consider it an area for vast exploration.
What are the tools used to define the right color for my environment?
As a design director for DWP,I rely heavily on the natural environment where my project is located. I often take stones, sand, leaves and shells to obtain a computer paint match that creates a soothing interiors color for wherever the project might be located in the world.
How important is color in interior design?
There have been many studies especially with regards to healthcare interiors, that indicate color and the environment make a great impact on the time it takes a person to heal. DWP is working in the healthcare market to bring softer, warmer hues to hospitals and clinic with a residential feel.

What are the main psychological effects of color?
In interior design, color is used to specific purposes depending on the setting. When DWP does restaurant design, we rely heavily on reds, and oranges as they create more energy and sense of urgency allowing the restaurant owner a higher table turn for their setting groups. Likewise, spa design often tends to a cooler palette of blues and greens as this direction encourages peace and relaxation.
What are the main physiological effects of color?
There is a vast array of studies that have been done on this topic. One example is how color impact moods, feelings, and behaviours, by Kendra Cherry, several ancient cultures, including the Egyptians and Chinese, practice chromotheraphy, or using colors to heal. Chromotheraphy is sometimes referred to as light therapy or colourology  and still used today as a holistic or alternative treatment. In this treatment:
Red was used to stimulate the body and mind and to increase circulation.
Yellow was thought to stimulate the nerves and purify the body.
Orange was used to heal the lungs and to increase energy levels.
Blue was believed to soothe illnesses and treat pain.
Indigo shades were thought to alleviate skin problems.

How can different colors affect your mood?
Studies have shown that this varies from person to person. It can also be influenced by regional or historical factors. The colors that remind you of a happy memory or have an emotional appeal from your home country can be elevating for the mood.
How can different paint colors affect a person's mental state and his reaction to different situations?
Given that paint is usually the dominant finish in the person's environment, it is a large part of our everyday lives. Taking the time to understand which colors will promote positive and peaceful feelings in one's home and work environment can create a more peaceful and harmonious society.
How can different colors affect our health in a positive way?
Colors that brings one joy will decrease stress and anxiety. The places that we spend the most amount of time should reflect the color palettes that enhances a positive feeling when we are surrounded by them.
How can we define color as per the functional area of our environment?
As an Interior designer, color is often used to cue clients to circulation paths, hierarchy of space, featured walls, and identity areas of importance. It can shape a space simply by creating areas of focus that either grab our attention or allow certain areas to pass unnoticed.

Vacation House

When I was in my younger days, I used to dream a lot and one of which is to have a vacation house. I remembered my family used to travel to Bohol (one of the beautiful places in the Philippines) during holidays and spent time with our relatives. One night, I stayed outside of the house sitting on the rock enjoying the cool breeze of the night while viewing the beautiful landscape facing the ocean.  An idea pop up in my mind saying “what if I build a vacation house in this place with a swimming pool”.  This could be the best place where my family and relatives could have fun and share quality time together. . It was really fun thinking of that dream. Of course, it ended up with a smile while walking back home for a dinner.

I am now in my thirties and I’ll keep on dreaming again and again.  I don’t mind when such dream would be realized as I believed that dream is a God’s blessing and seedlings of our reality.

To keep visualizing my dream house, I sketch a design of a house which for me suitable to my dream vacation house. Below is the perspective of the vacation house.

I think those series of day dreaming I had at a young age was never been a waste of time. In fact it was a visual aid to what I really want to have in the near future.

Friends, I am not an expert, but I believe that it is indeed necessary for all of us, both young and old to keep dreaming, believing in our dream, and put our dream into action.

I even start to understand that every great leader and successful people from the dawn of civilization down to the present was a dreamer who puts their dreams into action.

Let us not forget, Columbus who dreamed of an unknown world staked his life on the existence of such a world, and discovered it. Henry Ford, a poor and uneducated, dreamed of a horseless carriage, went to work with what tools he possessed, without waiting for opportunity to favor him, and now evidence of his dream belts the entire earth. Thomas Edison dreamed of a lamp that could be operated by electricity, began where he stood to put his dream into action and despite more than ten thousand failures, he stood by that dream until he made it a physical reality. The Wright brothers dreamed of a machine that would fly through the air. Now one may see evidence all over the world that they dreamed soundly. Practical dreamers do not quit.

The greatest achievements were, at first and for a time, but a dream.

So long fellows, together we say it out loud with conviction,
In God’s name I will live my dreams.

Modern Living Room

In Western architecture, a living room or lounge room  is a room in a residential house for relaxing and socializing. Such a room is sometimes called a front room when it is near the main entrance at the front of the house. The term sitting room is sometimes used synonymously with living room, although a sitting room may also occur in a hotel or other public building. The term living room was coined in the late 18th or early 19th century.
A typical Western living room may contain such a sofa, chairs, occasional tables, and bookshelves, electric lamps, rugs, or other furniture. Traditionally, a sitting room in the United Kingdom and New Zealand has a fireplace. In a Japanese sitting room, called a washitsu, the floor is covered with tatami, sectioned mats on which people can sit comfortably.
In larger homes in the United States and Canada, the living room may be reserved for more formal and quiet entertaining, while a separate room—such as a den, family room, or recreation room is used for leisure and informal entertainment. A great room combines the functions of one or more of these rooms.

As we all know that living room is considered as one of the most important rooms in the entire house. It is not just a place for relaxation that welcomes guest and visitors but it also serves as the focal point and acts as the showcase of the house that brings comfort and joy to all members of the house.

I think every homeowner should take good care of how this room will look like by creating something that will perfectly reflect the owners personality and style. There are so many styles that we can choose from, we can even browse the net of styles that we want it could be classic, country, contemporary or modern style with those clean lines.

Personally, as you can see in my design I love modern design. I always wanted to have my own modern living room that is why I design one. The modern living rooms of today have surpassed expectations of the sci-fi movies of yesterday. The rooms now not just provide relaxation and entertainment but exhibit an elegance and finesse that provides pure viewing pleasure.

For those of you who are looking for an inspiration of modern living room in the Philippines here's my simple modern living room design that might inspire you or something of that nature.
